There has been 7 years of heavy fighting that has destroyed most of the country. In Syria, as of February 2018 more than 5.5 million Syrians have fled the country and 6.1 million people have been forced to move out of their homes. Some of them have travelled over to England to experience a safer and better life than back home.

There are two main parties of the war: Assad (the president of Syria) and the Islamic State though there are also other small groups that are involved. Different countries have got involved such as America who supports the Islamic State and Russia who supports Assad and thinks that he should stay in charge. The US blames Assad on the war but they haven’t been so clear on what they think what should happen. They have also attacked Syria as they believe that Assad used chemical weapons. In most countries using chemical weapons is not allowed. The Russians criticize America’s attacks and says that Assad didn’t use any chemical weapons. Britain is not involved yet although they support America.

On to a positive note we interviewed a young girl called Wendy who discussed her opinions and thoughts on Syria. When we asked her on the effects of the refugees coming over to Britain she answered that it was “quite hard as it is difficult to adjust to a new language and to communicate”. She also responded that it was “quite sad as children don’t receive as much education as others and they don’t have the basics like a pen or a pencil”. We also asked her on what she thought is going to happen to the future of Syria. She answered:” As I keep up with the news, I have heard that it isn’t really progressing so to be honest, I am not really sure.”
