Social Media Stress

 Social  media   stress

Social media has dramatically changed the way we communicate, and there are a lot of benefits to it. We have access to unlimited information, we can connect with people from all over the world almost immediately and we can share with others things that matter to us.

Social media is also a powerful tool in terms of motivating people to action and make social changes. It provides a platform for young people’s voices to be heard, allowing them to have a say on issues that matter to them. The online world has the potential to help young people to explore new concepts, manage risks and build resilience.

Today, I interviewed Bluecoat Wollaton students about how social media affects them and how they use it. Rosie, a Year 8 student said that she believes that social media is great. She uses it to talk to friends. However, she believes that it can be dangerous for young people.

Amy also enjoys using social media; “it is amazing and I use it to talk  , text and see people’s stories on Snapchat”. She also worries that social media is dangerous for children because children can accidentally inappropriate content.

I also interviewed Roxanne, who said that, although social media is very popular, it can come with a lot of problems such as cyber-bullying and strangers viewing your accounts.

People who are addicted to social media may experience negative side effects such as eye strain, social withdrawal or lack of sleep and stress. If you spend your time researching problems or arguing with people, you may experience stress, which can have a negative impact on your health. All this can lead to negative consequences even later on in their life. Students who are using technology, including the social networking sites, on a regular basis tend to have more stomach aches, besides sleeping problems, as well as anxiety and depression.

I personally use Snapchat and Instagram and other social medias to share photos and text people out of school. I think social media can be a very dangerous thing as people share a lot about themselves online therefore it is very easy for strangers to find you.
